Quick answer
The light is at its best in the first and last hour of the day, and the table below gives the sunrise and sunset in Uzès for the 15th of every month of 2027, computed. The places are the ones our guides already cover; the festival is the Rencontres d'Arles, from 5 July to 3 October 2027.
Good for: planning a photo day around the sun, in any season.
Not for: camera settings or rules for flying a drone: we did not find site rules and say so below.
Dates move with the weather and the festival programmes. The bloom: our spring guide. Lavender: the lavender guide. The truffle market: the truffle guide. What is open in town: the sights of Uzès.

Computed, not measured
The times come from the standard solar formula for Uzès (44.01° N, 4.42° E), in local time: UTC+1 until the clocks go forward on 28 March 2027 and from the clocks going back on 31 October 2027, UTC+2 in between. We checked the formula against London on 15 January, where it matches the published times to the minute. Expect the real times within about two minutes, and later sunrises and earlier sunsets where hills hide the horizon, as in the gorges.
The first hour
Morning: bridge and market
Our the Pont du Gard guide puts the best time at the bridge in the early morning, with the morning light on the stone, before the coaches arrive; the site is open every day from 8:00 to midnight, and the paths and the bridge stay open in winter. In town the Saturday market on the Place aux Herbes runs from 7:30 to 13:00 and the Wednesday market from 7:30 to 14:00 (see the market guide).
The Pont du Gard guide gives 7:00 to 9:30 as the window; the site itself opens at 8:00, so in practice the window starts at opening.
The last hour
Evening: warm and low from the west
At the bridge the crowds thin from 17:00 and the summer light is warm and low from the west, according to the Pont du Gard guide. In town the Tour Bermonde of the Duché has a view over the roofs: its hours are in the sights of Uzès. Add the table above to find what 'the last hour' means in the month you travel: in January it starts around 16:30, in July around 20:20.
By season
Subjects that only come once a year
The truffle market in Uzès on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 14 December 2026 to 31 March 2027; the blossom from the end of February (see the spring guide); the lavender on the plateau of Sault, expected from 28 June to 15 August 2027 and with a festival on 15 August; the Christmas markets in December. The dates of each are on the pages above and in the what's-on list, and the lavender dates are expected, not announced.
The festivals
Arles in July, Uzès in June
The Arles tourist office lists the 58th edition of the Rencontres d'Arles, the photography festival, from 5 July to 3 October 2027, marking the bicentenary of photography. Another listing says only 'July', so treat the tourist office's dates as the ones to plan with and check the official programme. Arles is about 50 minutes from La Valette; see the Arles guide.
Closer to home, Les Azimutés d'Uzès, a photography festival now held every two years, returns in 2027: 26 June to 3 July in Uzès, on the theme "Au-delà du visible" (beyond the visible), by the festival's own site and rules, spread over several places in the town. We have not seen the programme.
