How we check the facts

Opening hours change, markets move, a restaurant closes. This is how we keep this guide accurate, what we leave out, and a public log of every mistake we have found and fixed.

In short

Every opening time, market day, price and distance comes from an official or primary source, and anything we cannot confirm is left out. We review the site every week.

What you can rely on: the date under each page title is the date of its last real change.

What you should still do: confirm opening hours on the day, especially in winter, before driving far for one place.

What we check, and against what
WhatChecked againstRe-checked
Opening hours and ticket pricesThe venue's own website or the operator's official page, with tourist-office listings as a second sourceIn the weekly review, and again when the season changes
Market days and hoursThe commune or the tourist office, and the market's own announcementsIn the weekly review
Events and datesThe organiser or the tourist office. An event is shown only with a confirmed date, and a finished event drops off the list on its ownIn the weekly review
Distances and drive timesMeasured from the house in Sanilhac-Sagriès with a route planner and given as rounded minutesWhenever a page is edited
Buses, trains and flightsThe operator's own timetable (for example liO for buses, SNCF for trains); routes we cannot confirm are not listedWhenever a page is edited
River and swimming safetyThe official site regulations and the authorities' alerts (Vigicrues, Météo-France vigilance)When the season changes
Restaurants and shopsWe only name places we can confirm are open and correctly located; places we cannot confirm are taken offIn the weekly review
What we leave out

No numbers, quotes or experiences we cannot back up

If we have not tried something ourselves, we do not say that we did. If a fact cannot be confirmed, we write what we could confirm, or we leave it out.

Where sources disagree, which happens with opening days, we say so on the page and ask you to confirm on the day.

Dates on the pages

One date, the same for readers and search engines

The “Updated” date under each page title is the date of the last real change to that page, and it is the same date we give to search engines. A small wording fix does not change it.

Corrections log: what we got wrong, and what is right
DatePageCorrection
10 Oct 2026Pont du GardRemoved a nightly light show that does not take place. The 2026 evening programme was a free video projection, 4 July to 30 August.
10 Oct 2026Pont du GardParking is a flat €9, not about €8. The museum spaces close from 2 November 2026, so they are not a winter plan. Ticket prices updated.
10 Oct 2026Swimming near the Pont du GardRemoved “directly below the bridge” as a swimming spot. Swimming is not allowed within 30 m of the bridge, jumping is banned and there is no lifeguard.
10 Oct 2026Uzès marketsSaturday market hours corrected to 7:30 to 13:00 (we had 8:00). The Wednesday market is a producers' market and is no longer described as organic.
10 Oct 2026Markets nearbyRemoulins market is on Friday (we had Thursday). The Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie producers' market is on Tuesday (we had Sunday).
10 Oct 2026CyclingThe Voie Verte route was wrong. It runs Uzès, Pont du Gard, Beaucaire (about 31 km) and does not go via Saint-Quentin or Montaren. Distances now start from the house.
10 Oct 2026About us and villagesAvignon lies east of La Valette Boutique, not west, and Collias lies east of the house too.
10 Oct 2026Uzès or AvignonAvignon parking is about €20 a day (2025 tariff), and there is no free parking at the door.
10 Oct 2026Getting hereRemoved Ryanair routes from the UK that we could not confirm, and a claim that buses run hourly.
10 Oct 2026Staying near the Pont du GardRemoved visitor numbers, an “official swimming area” label and personal-experience claims that we could not support. Uzès to the Pont du Gard is about 20 km, half an hour; 15 minutes is from the house.
10 Oct 2026Restaurants in UzèsFive places we could not confirm were removed, and the address of Loggia was corrected.
10 Oct 2026Nîmes and Roman citiesThe drive to Nîmes is about 30 minutes from the house. Several pages said 25.
10 Oct 2026EventsA summer events list that had gone out of date was replaced by a dated list for 2026 and 2027. Events now carry real dates and leave the list when they end.
7 Oct 2026About usThe house dates from the 18th century; we had given the wrong century.

Questions

About how we work

La Valette Boutique is run by Jan-Willem and Fleur, who live in the Netherlands and visit regularly. They are responsible for what is published here. There is more about them on the About page.

They are checked against the venue's own published hours and tourism listings. Hours still change between seasons, and venues sometimes close at short notice, so confirm on the day when you plan to drive a long way for one place.

The site is reviewed every week. Events and markets are re-checked each time, and a few guides are checked in full. The date under each title shows when a page last changed in substance.

We prefer the operator's own current announcement. If the sources still differ, we say so on the page and ask you to confirm on the day.

Message us on WhatsApp (+33 6 37 22 44 16) or write to bonjour@lavaletteboutique.com and tell us which page it is. We check it against the source, fix it, and add it to the corrections log above.
