Quick answer
Spring near Uzès is a run of short seasons: almond blossom from the end of February, cherry blossom in April, poppies from mid-May. Easter weekend (28 March 2027) and Whitsun (16 to 17 May) are the busy dates. The bloom dates below are rough, from tourist offices and blogs; the event dates are from organisers or flagged as expected.
Good for: planning ahead for Easter and Whitsun, and for anyone who wants flowers, quiet gorges and long days before the summer heat.
Not for: betting on one blossom date: weather moves them by weeks, so keep the plan flexible.

The bloom
Almonds, cherries, then poppies
No source we found gives official bloom dates: tourist offices and blogs give weeks, and say a warm spring moves everything earlier and a cool one later. The almonds come first, at the end of February and the start of March; the cherry trees follow in April; the poppies are a May affair. All three are in the Luberon, about an hour and a half from Uzès: see the Luberon guides, and plan the trip for a sunny morning after a cool night, when the blossom is at its best, as one source puts it, and not for a windy day, which drops the petals.
The long weekends
Easter and Whitsun 2027
Easter Sunday is 28 March, Easter Monday 29 March; Ascension Thursday is 6 May; Whit Sunday is 16 May and Whit Monday 17 May. These are the dates when fêtes, ferias and fairs cluster: the Arles feria, the Nîmes Féria de Pentecôte (expected, and listed as busy: book early) and the pilgrimage at Saintes-Maries on 24 and 25 May. Check what's on for the confirmed ones.
What reopens
Gardens, museums and the gorges
The medieval garden of Uzès reopens on 24 March 2027 (tourist-office listing; see things to see in Uzès). Our own opening data, checked in October 2026, has the Musée de la Romanité in Nîmes closed on Tuesdays only from November to March, so it is open on Tuesdays again from April, and has the Gardon gorges as a typical April-to-October season. Some gorge sectors are closed from 15 January to 30 June for nesting eagles: see the nature guide before you plan a long walk.
On the water
Walks and paddles, with care
Spring and autumn suit the gorges best by our walking sources, and the Gardon can run high after rain. our walking guide has the loops, and the canoe guide the paddling; check the river level before you go.
